About

With more than 20 years’ experience in interior design, Yvette Jay creates highly considered interiors for people who are successful, busy, and particular about how they live.

Architecturally trained and experienced in working alongside architects, builders and craftspeople, Yvette brings an architectural understanding to interior design—considering space, proportion, light, materials and detail as part of one cohesive vision.

Her clients value design, but they also value their time. They want an experienced professional who listens carefully, understands quickly and takes responsibility for the detail. Yvette works closely with each client on a one-to-one basis, providing a highly personalised service from the initial concept through to the final furnishings and finishing touches.

There is no signature Yvette Jay style. Every project is different because every client is different. Her approach is stylistically flexible, responding to the architecture, location and personality of the people who live there. Whether the brief calls for understated contemporary interiors, traditional character or something more layered and expressive, the design is always personal rather than formulaic.

A deep knowledge of materials is fundamental to Yvette’s work. She understands how stone, timber, metal, colour, textiles and light can be combined to create interiors with depth, longevity and atmosphere. She also designs bespoke furniture, custom joinery and furnishings where an off-the-shelf solution simply isn’t the right fit —creating details that are made specifically for the space and the people using it.

Over two decades, Yvette has developed trusted relationships across the design and building industry, collaborating with architects, builders, artisans and specialist suppliers to bring complex projects together seamlessly. Her work has received industry recognition and awards, and has been featured in leading design publications, reflecting both the quality of her work and its editorial relevance.

For clients who expect a high level of design, service and attention to detail, Yvette offers an experienced, discreet and highly personal approach. She takes the complexity out of the design process, allowing clients to enjoy the journey while knowing that every decision is being carefully considered.

Exceptional design, without the unnecessary complexity. A highly personal service for people who expect the very best from their home.

Services

Initial Consultation

An initial consultation is the ideal starting point for creating a home that is considered, personal and beautifully resolved.

Perhaps you are looking for expert direction on a particular room, seeking advice on materials and furnishings, or ready to embark on the larger undertaking of creating or renovating your home. Whatever the scale, the consultation is designed for clients who value their time, have high expectations and want experienced guidance from the outset.

During our one-to-one consultation, we will talk through your vision, lifestyle, personal taste, priorities, budget and timeframe. With more than 20 years’ experience and an architectural approach to interiors, I will identify opportunities, potential challenges and the key decisions that will shape your project.

Following the consultation, you will receive a written report outlining a clear path forward for your brief, budget and timeframe. It will highlight potential obstacles, provide considered recommendations and identify where my expertise can add the greatest value.

The aim is to give you clarity and confidence—whether you need a focused injection of design expertise or are considering a more comprehensive interior design service.

Initial consultations are $550 + GST and take approximately one hour at your home. This fee applies to consultations within the Auckland and Matakana areas. Consultations outside these areas can also be arranged.

Zoom consultations are available for clients seeking professional design direction and advice, wherever they are located.
